Tossing the Häagen-Dazs [0705.1999]

I just threw out a whole pint of Häagen-Dazs Dulce De Leche Ice Cream. I went through this about two weeks ago with a pint of Ben and Jerry's, too. It seems I can't buy a pint without eating the whole thing at once, so I decided to bite the bullet and just swear off ice cream forever.

To be honest with you, I don't even like ice cream. It's too sweet, too sticky, and eating even a little bit makes me feel gross. Yet in the past, I would buy it and eat whole pints in one sitting.

I've realized that I have all kinds of old beliefs and habits when it comes to eating. Every few months, I read Fit for Life and go on a health kick, and then after a few weeks, it wears off. I'm about due to read it again.

I realized when I swore off Burger King that memes from the outside world really affect the way I live my life. That's why it's important to seek out and immerse myself in healthy memes, as I try to do on my self-help site. But where did I get this habit of buying ice cream?

More importantly, what to replace it with? You should have seen me driving around town lately, looking for a place I could eat. I went on a swearing spree after Burger King, and now there's very few places I can eat. Subway, Schlotskys, and the Deli at Publix are about my only choices when I'm in a hurry - the nearest salad bar is miles away. I've wound up floundering around town a few times lately, looking for something that fits my new criteria for what I'm willing to put in my body.

Usually, I wind up cooking for myself. I think that's a good thing. Fit for Life has a recipe for a milkshake replacement made water and blanched almonds (which you can combine in a blender to make almond milk), and frozen bananas. It's not bad, but it's very thick and heavy. Really more of a meal than a dessert.

In Unlimited Power, Tony Robbins mentioned putting frozen bananas in a juicer to get an ice-cream like effect. I haven't tried that yet. I'll let you know.
