NLP, WEB: Advocacy Pages [1101.1998]
I was doing a bit of surfing this morning, and it occurred to me
that I'm seeing quite a few "Advocacy" pages lying around. Pages
designed to help you persuade other people to a certain meme-set.
For example, the
Linuxmanship
page is chock full of ideas for promoting Linux at work:
YOU: "Isn't it good to run the most configurable and
full-featured web server?"
PROSPECT: "Yes."
YOU: "Isn't it good to get a system that connects to all our
existing systems?"
PROSPECT: "Yes."
YOU: "Isn't it great that the budget for this project will be lower
than expected if you decide we should go with Linux?"
PROSPECT: "Yes."
YOU: "So would you like me to install it Thursday so we can get
started?"
PROSPECT: "Yes."
There's also a Perl
Advocacy Page, and.. Perhaps coolest of all, a
Libertarian Party Advocacy Page
where you can actually buy a three-tape set on persuasion for $5!!
- Dozens of easy, effective, and powerful communication techniques
- How to make libertarian ideas almost irresistible
- How to avoid the most common communication errors
- How to ask questions that shift your audience's views
- The power of language, fables, metaphors
Memetics in overdrive!
