Freecoding [0801.1998]

I firmly believe that good software needs good planning. But sometimes that can come in hindsight. I don't know how many times I've heard the idea that you've got to write one or two throwaway programs before you really understand the problem enough to deal with it. Otherwise, we'd all be using DOS 1.0 or something. Hey, those throwaway scripts and programs are worth something. They're like a writer's notebook, or an improv session between actors. Besides, hacking out the rough code can be fun.
