marketing: keep it simple

I just had a nice conversation with Jeff and Bryan Eisenberg, the brothers in charge of Future Now. They're web marketing consultants, and creators of the GROKDotCom newsletter.

Anyway, they basically said I should revamp copy on the cornerhost site, and make it get right to the point about what I have to offer. I have a whole page of notes I need to go over.

One thing that stuck out was that I need to quickly qualify who my business is for, and get rid of the people that I can't help. Then show them exactly what I have to offer. My current site has all these facts and long text and whatnot, and what I need is to make it a no-brainer. Maybe keep the details around if someone wants to take a look, but first just get them interested.

They said I should get a 4-5% conversion rate if I just presented it right. Conversion rate is the percentage of visitors who buy, and I've averaged about 1.4%. So their comments are very encouraging!

They have a book called Take your Words to the Bank that I plan to download and read tonight. I'm hoping to revamp the site over the next few days.
