python cookbook
The Daily Python-URL has two links to excerpts from O'Reilly's new python cookbook.
I have been really disappointed with most python books I've read. Most of them are extremely basic and unhelpful. (Actually, the same is true for most programming books in general). This one actually looks like it might be worth reading. (The Perl Cookbook has been out for a couple years. It's really good, too, as is Mastering Algorithms with Perl - especially the bottom of page 241)silicon valley goes bust
NYTimes: Silicon Valley goes bust... I guess now is a good time to buy real estate in California.
The one area where the economy remains hot — although no longer so sizzling — is the market for homes, which are still in short supply. Moreover, brokers say, homes here are increasingly viewed as a haven from the much riskier investments in the staggering stock market.

This downsizing of lifestyles is consistent with the rising unemployment, soaring commercial real estate vacancy rates and softened market for hotels and restaurants.

I'm on a rampage today, stomping out bugs in my business. I sent about 20 emails out to people who hadn't paid their bills. Gave them 48 hours to pay up before I shut their accounts down.
Also cleaned up quite a bit of disk space, and implemented a nice monitoring system to make sure I take action when a server drops below a certain amount of space.
My sleep schedule is all crazy again... Which is why, at 3:07 in the morning, I'm going to grab lunch, answer some email, and get back to coding my control panel...
