long day

I've spent about 8 hours answering email today, and that's working time, not elapsed time. That's not a usual day, though. I had quite a backlog and a couple really long mails that required serious thought and took an hour or two each. They were business development, thankfully - not customer support!

Along those lines... I picked up Rich Dad, Poor Dad again the other day, and it made me realize that I'm still thinking like I live in the Employee quadrant. I have way too many days when I just clear out my inbox and call it a day's work. In other words, I fall into the trap of thinking that customer support is my job, when it isn't. It's just a role I'm filling as part of the grander scheme of building a business. I should be focusing MUCH more time on the business so I can minimize the need for support, and then finding a really smart and reliable person to take over what's left as the business grows.

Anyway, I've defeated the evil backlog of cornerhost mail. Still need to answer everyone who's emailed me at my personal address.

The goal now needs to be to maintain a quick response rate on support while I focus on the business itself. I've got a long backlog of projects to do, too... And it'll take me a lot more than a day to clear that one out.
