Michal Sabren?
The book I'm reading - The Fall of Advertising and the Rise of PR has an interesting passage:
We once worked with an Italian food company that wanted to develop
a new name. After we had selected an appropriate Italian name
for the company, we had the nerve to suggest to the CEO and
owner that he change his name (which was French) to the new Italian
name we had chosen.
Why not? Corporations will spend hundreds of thousands of dollars
to develop a brand name and then put that brand name into the mouth
of a CEO with a totally inappropriate name.
They then go on to list about fifteen famous people who had changed
their names. And these are famous people: Allen Konisberg, Alphonso D'Abruzzo, Archibald Leech, Cherilyn Shakisian, Tom Mapother, Bernie Schwartz, Diane Fiesen, Margaret Hyra, Eugene Orowitz, Frances Gumm, Issur Danielovitch, Maurice Micklewhite, Michael Guitosi, Shirley Schrift, and Walter Matuschanskayasky.
Of course, they got famous with names like: Woody Allen, Alan Alda,
Cary Grant, Cher, Tom Cruise, Tony Curtis, Dyan Cannon, Meg Ryan,
Michael Landon, Judy Garland, Kirk Douglas, Michael Caine, Robert
Blake, Shelley Winters, and Walter Matthau.
Maybe I should change my name to Michal Sabren. People call me
that anyway, and it's a lot catchier than Michal Wallace. I can
hardly even say my own name with all those L's. That's why it's
always Michal J Wallace. But Michal Sabren actually has a nice
sound to it.
:)
